Parking is permitted in the gravel lot next to the Community Garden. Please do not park or drive on the trail or grass.

GARDNER CONDUCT

Gardeners are expected to treat everyone in the garden with courtesy and respect.

No one is permitted to trespass into the garden that isn’t a plot holder without permission of the Co-Op.

Children are encouraged to participate in gardening, but must be supervised at all times and not disturb other gardeners and plots.

Please keep pets limited to the trail or dog park. They are not permitted inside the fenced garden area.

All other Olmsted Township rules and regulations apply when you are using the area.

PLOT ASSIGNMENT & RESOURCES

Plots can be reserved starting in January for that planting season. Returning and new gardeners are required to apply each year.

26 plots are available to Olmsted Township Residents. Plots assigned with a paid application.

Plots are assigned by the Community Garden Committee. Returning Gardens may requisition the same location or a different plot. Gardeners are limited to one (1) plot. All members of the family working a garden plot must have a signed waiver of liability on file.

New gardeners must attend orientation.

The Community Garden has a limited inventory of hand tools, carts, garden stakes, watering cans, gloves, and sitting stools. Please clean and return tools to their designated area in the Garden. Do not remove tools from the garden.

PLOT PLANTING & MAINTENANCE

The planting deadline is mid June. If your space is not planted, you forfeit the right of the plot and it will be reassigned to the next Gardner on the waitlist.

No illegal or invasive plants may be grown. Corn, sunflowers, and perennials that are difficult to eradicate for the next year are also prohibited in individual garden plots (i.e. horseradish, mint, brambles such as raspberries, etc.)

ORGANIC GARDEN METHODS ONLY. Use of pesticides, herbicides, and insecticides made from synthetic materials as well as use of chemical fertilizers like Osmocote or Miracle Grow are strictly forbidden. We encourage the use of natural, organic matter to provide nutrients to your garden. If you are unsure, please reach out to the Co-Op to confirm your supplement is approved.

Wood chippings will be provided as we receive them from the Olmsted Township chipping program.

Gardeners must weed their plots. Do not dig or plant outside of your plot. Please take your weeds/clippings with you to dispose of them.

Water will be available in rain barrels. We have limited watering cans, so please bring your own if you have one. If a rain barrel is empty when you are at the garden, please notify the Co-Op so we can refill them.

END OF SEASON

Plots must be cleared out by 5pm on the designated dates. Synthetic material and string must be disposed of. Garden equipment must be returned if it belongs to the Co-Op, you will need to store your own tools and stakes. Failure to clean your plot may lead to denial of future plots.
